It doesn't matter where the bombs fall, where they come from, or for what reason. The first victims are always civilians; women, men, and children who have little to do with the ongoing conflict, yet see their lives shattered, bereaved, and torn away. Nation-states and their leaders are at the root of this evil, systematically seeking to impose their interests and culture, increasing their resources and wealth at the expense of others. In this power struggle, war is an instrument of domination used strategically by the most powerful nation-states against their rivals or strategic targets: sometimes to annihilate an emerging threat, sometimes to acquire new resources or expand regional influence. The divide is so deep that one wonders if there still exist—or if there ever existed—states whose leaders truly serve the interests of the many. In a capitalist system, democracy and universal suffrage can only be storefronts, illusions of a so-called representativeness. In a capitalist system, the only possible option is to conquer, to grow, and to win—or else be conquered, decline, and be defeated. It is a system that, by its very nature, rejects balance and equity. As long as capitalism persists, the people and the least privileged classes will suffer under it. It will continue to grow at the expense of lives and human dignity: death matters little if it can bring a few growth points and increase the dividends paid to shareholders. For them, war is just another business and growth opportunity. If there is still any doubt, one only needs to observe what is happening today across the French industry, despite official statements. To name but a few: Thales, Aubert & Duval, Eurolinks, Airbus, Dassault, Safran, Sermat, Cap Gemini… and all the players in their supply chain profit from war, equipping and supplying those who sow death around the world, with the support of the State. In the midst of a budgetary crisis and cuts to education, health, housing, ecology, culture, and transport, the French State plans in its 2024-2030 military programming law to increase the defense budget by 3.1 to 4.3 billion euros every year.
