he 7’’ split SKIZOPHRENIA / DELETÄR, released on Kick Rock, delivers four tracks crafted for fans of uncompromising punk. On the Skizophrenia (Japan) side, Stereotype and Needless clearly draw from the legacy of ’80s Scandinavian punk (Anti-Cimex, Totalitär), blended with a raw energy reminiscent of Discharge. Their sound is fast, tense, with a martial rhythm and a rasping voice, like a condensed shot of D-Beat and raw punk. Deletär (France), on the other hand, leans further into filthy hardcore and noisy D-Beat. La balance et le glaive recalls a mix between Disclose and Guerra Final, while Funambule maintains an urgency akin to UK82 (GBH, Disorder), with an almost chaotic yet still controlled saturation. The contrast is finely balanced: Skizophrenia goes straight for the throat with a sharp, fast-paced style, while Deletär dives into a more saturated darkness, rooted in Scandinavian crust and the French hardcore tradition. Everything retains the DIY spirit, with a raw but precise sound—perfect to blast at full volume. More than just a Franco-Japanese collaboration, this split clearly stands in the tradition of ’80s punk splits, where two bands join forces to share a record and a common rage. A must-have for anyone into abrasive punk, stripped of artifices, driven by D-Beat and militant urgency.
